This is a minor detail, but I don’t like to have column headings that are long in a table. A classic example is I don’t like a heading that says “Percent Difference” because you know there’s going to be a percentage in that column, but the column is going to be unnecessarily wide to accommodate the word “Difference” or even “Change.” This is particularly relevant with Search Queries reports you run in Google Webmaster Tools (under Traffic).
My favorite way to get around that is to use a delta symbol (Δ) instead of writing out change. To create it, just type a capital D (I remember d for delta), select the D, and change the font to Symbol.
If you’re working with a formatted table, it will not share the same formatting as the rest of your headings, but you can reformat it manually.
